Making My Family Proud
(Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how world has shaped your dreams and aspirations)
At this moment I am proud of how far I’ve come, if I keep up my hard work I will be the first one in my family to graduate from High School and go to college. I come from a small town in California called Lindsay. In this town there is only one High School which is; Lindsay High School. It is not a very big school but I can say that it is a very good school. At Lindsay High I have learned that in order to get somewhere you have to strive for what you want the most and if you really try hard you’ll reach your goal. My goal is to graduate from here and go to college, the reason why I am doing my best to accomplish my goal is to make my family proud and be the first one in my family to graduate from High School and go to college.
I was born in Mexico, and came to Lindsay, California at the age of 6. I come from a family of Mom, Dad, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. I am the youngest in the family and they have always supported me in whatever I needed throughout my life. At this moment my goal is to make them happy and thank them by graduating from High School and going to college. All these years have gone by really fast in High School and now I’m in my Senior year and i'm sure that if I stick to doing my work like I always have, i'll get through it without any problems.
I can describe myself as an honest and hardworking guy. I have had to work in the fields to help my family pay the bills and help them get through with everything they’ve needed. It is hard to be out there in the burning sun working when the temperatures are reaching over 105 degrees. But my parents have also taught me to work hard for what I want. So with the money that I get working in the fields, most of it I’ve used to buying my own clothes, shoes, school supplies etc.. Not only have I been working since I was young, but I also help them pay bills so everything can be much easier for them and in a way I am really proud of myself because I am learning to be independent.
After High School I want to apply for UCSB I want to become an interpreter. I want to make my family proud and be proud of myself, too. I want to have enough money to support my own family and buy a good house and a good car. Those are my goals in life and I will do anything to accomplish them and make my family proud. Like someone once told me “If you want to accomplish your dreams, take small steps each day and you’ll soon reach your goal.”
