Job Shadow Reflection
For my Job Shadow I went to an Apartment Complex and I Shadowed America Sanchez. America was the manager of the apartments at the time I did my Job Shadow on January 29, 2015. My job shadow was held here in Lindsay, Ca. I choose to this type of job because I was interested in remodeling apartments, I found this to be very interesting and loved this job since I already has some experience doing this.
Throughout the day I was supposed to spend the day with America’s husband Edher Sanchez but he couldn’t make it, so I spent the day with America. She talked to me about all you have to do to get this job and what your specialties should be. She also took me to some apartments that needed some remodeling and taught me some new things that I didn’t know before and I also showed her some of my tricks that I have for this type of job. Then we went back to her office and she talked to me about her job which is being in charge of all the paperwork that’s held in the apartments.
Throughout my job shadow I learned how to install new cabinets into some buildings and other things. America also told me a phrase that I will always remember she said, “Choose a job you love, and you won’t work a day in your life.” This inspired me so much because it’s true that if you find a job you like you won’t ever feel like you're working. The only thing I disliked was leaving, I was so into the convo that I didn’t even realize that time went flying.
I am still kind of interested in this type of job but now I would consider this to be as my second option. Now I am interested in Mechanics: collision and repair, this job has really got to me because it influenced me to fix cars after collisions. Since crashes are happening daily it is common that you will be recieving a lot of customers if you know how to do your job correctly and keep your customers happy.
